The National Capital Society of American Foresters Phonathon
The 2009 NCSAF Annual Phonathon for the Society of American Foresters will be Wednesday, April 15th; Tuesday, April 21st; and Monday, April 27th from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM each night at the national "Wildacres" office of SAF at 5400 Grosvenor Lane, Bethesda, MD 20814-2198.
Annually, NCSAF assists the national office of SAF in contacting members and former members who have failed so far to renew their SAF membership. It's a great opportunity to help our professional Society and at the same time gives us an opportunity to think through why we belong to and support SAF. It sometimes provides an opportunity to talk to old friends and colleagues, which is always a great deal of fun. We use a phone bank set up by SAF in their conference room and using low evening long distance rates, we work our way across the US by time zones. The "young" foresters of NCSAF organize to focus their group on a single night.
If you can spare a couple hours after work on any of those nights, please call Bryan Petit at (202) 720-7252 or email hiim at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will have an orientation and dinner from 5:30 pm and make calls to members across the nation until about 9:00 pm each evening. Seeking feedback from members and reminding them to pay their dues is the main way NCSAF supports our friends at the National Office.
Notes Carol McKernon, former SAF member services manager, "The Phonathon is probably one of the most important things we do here for membership retention." If anyone needs help with transportation contact Bryan Petit, phonathon chair, and we will work out something. The national office is a short (for a forester) walk from the Grosvenor Metro Stop. Bring a friend. This is a great way to meet and work with your fellow NCSAF members.
