April NCSAF Luncheon Scheduled for April 28 th – Lunch will be served On Thursday, April 28, NCSAF will host a luncheon at the American Forest Foundation office. The American Wood Council (AWC) is the voice of North American traditional and engineered wood products, representing over 65% of the industry. Bob Glowinski, President of AWC, will join us to introduce NCSAF to AWC and its work, and discuss the use of wood in green buildings. Wood building products provide numerous advantages over competing materials, including using less energy and requiring less water to produce than comparable building materials. AWC provides technical, legal, and economic information on wood design, green building, and manufacturing environmental regulations advocating for balanced government policies that sustain the wood products industry. A free light lunch will be served about 11:30 am, and we'll start the NCSAF-update portion of the meeting around 11:45 am, and Bob’s talk will be from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Location: American Forest Foundation office at 1111 Nineteenth Street, NW, Suite 780 . Closest metro stations are Farragut North and Farragut West. Speaker Biography: Robert Glowinski is President of the American Wood Council. AWC is the voice of North American traditional and engineered wood products, representing over 65% of an industry essential to everyday life and employing 360,000 people. Prior to his appointment with AWC, Mr. Glowinski served as Group Vice President for Forestry and Wood Products for the American Forest & Paper Association. Mr. Glowinski has worked for the two associations for over thirty years in various capacities, having previously served at AF&PA as Assistant Vice President, Technical Research Counsel, and Manager of Fire Technology. He also has worked as a litigator for a Washington, D.C. law firm and as Director of Research for the District of Columbia Fire Department. Bob is a member of the American Society for Testing and Materials, American Society of Association Executives, Forest Products Society, and the American Bar Association, Construction Law Section. He has also served on the Board of Visitors for the College of Natural Resources, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. |
