Panel of Interns working in Washington, D.C. this Summer

Organized and Chaired by Lara Siegried, 2007 SAF Henry Clepper Forest Policy Intern

Our August NCSAF luncheon will feature a panel of interns working in Washington, D.C. this summer. As foresters, we know that change is an integral part of the forest environment, and working in Washington, D.C., we know that change is also a fact of life in rural land use, urban and community environments, and forest policy and law. However, it seems like the pace of change is accelerating, in both the biophysical environment where trees and forests grow, and in the socio-economic-political environment where foresters work and live. The Nation's forestry schools are charged with preparing the next generation of foresters to deal not with the forests of yesterday, but those of today and tomorrow.

Come interact with a panel of interns working this summer in Washington, D.C. to learn about their experiences as interns, the academic programs that they have recently graduated from or are still enrolled in, their vision of the future of forestry, and their aspirations for making a positive difference in forest sustainability.

The panel includes:

Chair: Lara Siegfried, 2007 Henry Clepper Forest Policy Intern, SAF, Forestry Undergraduate, Northern Arizona University

Panel Members:
Raquel Garcia-Alvarez, USFS International Programs graduate in Animal Sciences, University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign.
Intern Dana Coehlo, USFS Policy Analysis, M.S. Sustainable Development & M.P.P. University of Maryland
